16th ANNUAL THREE KINGS WINTER FESTIVAL AND PARADE 2011

One of the most popular family events of the New Year in Humboldt Park

Chicago, IL January 5, 2011 - The Annual Three Kings Parade will take place this year beginning on Thursday, January 6th at Roberto Clemente High School, 1147 N. Western Avenue and end at the Humboldt Park Field House at 1440 N. Sacramento Avenue.

Children may register at Clemente High School in order to receive a gift, from 2:30 to 3:30 pm. At 3:45pm, families will board trolleys and buses for the parade led by the three kings. The Kings will be on horse and carriage followed by a line of trolleys and double Decker buses. The parade route goes west on Division Street (Paseo Boricua) to Humboldt Park

The Three Kings Day Parade or day of the Epiphany, celebrates the coming of the Three Magi to bring gifts to baby Jesus. In Puerto Rican Tradition this is the day that children receive their Christmas holiday gifts, and is celebrated with traditional music and songs about the three kings. In keeping with this tradition, the Puerto Rican community comes together to bring gifts to the children who brave the weather for this the first parade of the year in Chicago.
